Youth Services

Enabling Youth works with at risk Youth/Rangatahi between 11 and 30 years of age.

The programme involves 10 - 15 sessions, usually held weekly for around an hour. Participants are encouraged to practice their learning throughout the week and review their progress with their mentor at the next session. Mentors are available throughout the week to assist the young people and their whanāu.

Enabling Youth was developed with a vision to work alongside young people facing challenges with abusive or violent behaviours. This programme can assist with a range of issues such as:

  • Lack of self esteem

  • Substance abuse

  • Relationship management

  • Difficulty with life skills

  • Difficulty with problem solving techniques

  • Coping with grief and loss

  • Safety planning

Individual programmes are delivered by clinicians who have extensive experience working with challenging youth.

There is a comprehensive assessment process, that allows an opportunity to identify the individual requirements of each client including cultural needs and additional support areas.

Personal Development and Education or Career Plans are an important feature of our programme. They focus on the goals of the young person and assist in  ‘staircasing’ them towards their identified goals. If deemed appropriate, Enabling Youth will liase other agencies on behalf of the young person.
